Fanged & Forever Young.

I have a confession to make.

I am completely and utterly enamored with the whole Twilight Saga. Yes, I know what you are thinking, "Holy shit! This chick is one of those stupid teeny-bopper Twihard or whatever they are called lameasses! HOW PATHETIC!" Let me briefly explain...

You either love it or hate it. If you love it, it's likely because you've actually read the books or seen the movies. If you hate it, it might be because anything that gets a 13 year old teeny bopper screaming at the top of her (and possibly, "his") lungs and bursting into tears is reason enough to NOT like it... which even I agree with. However, you probably haven't seen the movie or read the books. If you have and still don't like it... well, I guess you can skip over this particular post :)

Here's a handful of reasons why I love the this whole Twilight series:

  • Every girl (I don't care how much you argue that you don't, deep down, you do) wants/misses/dreams of those incredible romances that are unarguably ridiculously crazy, erratic and unreasonable but has inexplicably swept you off your feet because this person says, does and is everything that makes your heart melt. This causes you to believe* that you two were meant to spend the rest of your human lives together (*I say "believe" because you very well may be meant to spend the rest of your lives together but one of you will likely fuck that possibility up). Most of us have experienced this at least once in our lives. Twilight reminds us of this amazing unabashed kind of love that we all need a little more retrospect on.

  • That being said, watching Twilight makes me feel like I'm 14 years old all over again.

  • Let's face it... our everyday lives aren't always the most exciting so, naturally, escaping into fantasy every now and again helps us get over the repetitive and mundane details of our own lives. More importantly, it secretly helps knowing that even the supernatural would have just as much drama in their everyday lives as well... if they had one, of course.

  • What can I say?! I'm a sucker for any good looking guy that happens to say all the right things at all the right times and is fiercely protective of the one he loves. Edward Cullen does this. I can dream, right?!

I know, I know... how the hell does this tie into anything remotely close to style?! Well, believe it or not, but these vamps (+ one wannabe vamp) all happen to dress pretty damn good and can take some pretty incredible pictures. And plus, who doesn't like looking at great photos of great looking people?! Enjoy. :)

For Heaven's Sake, Put Down The UGGs!

As much trash talking I do about wearing UGGs out in public, I am guilty of wearing mine this very second because it's rainy in Los Angeles today. You see, I used to be one of those girls that wore my UGGs with E V E R Y T H I N G. Eventually, I saw the light and realized that I looked horrifically sloppy whenever I wore my UGGs (UGGs just happen to make any outfit look sloppy). Since I wore my UGGs everywhere (including but not limited to: camping trips, to the beach, in the rain, in mud, ect.), they started to look completely tore up. As a recovering UGGaholic, I only wear my UGGs when it's raining and for late night trips to the store until find a suitable replacement for them. Just in case you are also an UGGaholic, here are some alternatives:

Yes, there are a few pairs of UGGs up there... however, they are less bummy looking then the traditional UGGs that you would think of when you hear the word "UGG."

Just Another Rodarte for Target Post.

Unless you've been living under a fashion-less rock (or only shop at Wal-Mart, grr), you probably already know that Rodarte has done a collection for Target. You probably have also already read close to a million blog posts about the Rodarte for Target collection. Well, as soon as the Rodarte for Target lookbook was available online I was on Target.com to check it out... no need to make a trip to Target knowing that I would probably leave with a cart-full of items totaling well over $300(Rodarte items + other various things that I "need"). Well, hate to say it... but I wasn't over the moon about everything that was on there. Sure, there were a few pieces that I thought were kinda cute... but nothing that caused me to rush to my local Target with my credit card in hand to snatch up these so-so pieces.

I went to Target recently to get some of the household necessities and leave it up to Target to have the swimsuit section up n poppin' already. Do I need to remind you that it is DECEMBER?! Yes, I know Southern Cali weather is pretty awesome (disregard the fact that I complain about it on a regular basis and then blame it all on global warming) but it has been averaging about 60 degrees lately! Sure enough, 2 seconds later... I was all up in that section which happened to be right next to the Rodarte for Target section where I stumbled upon this: (cue: dun ta dunnn!)

I didn't see this online and it's because it's considered "junior's" instead of "women's," weird, huh?! I snatched up all the sizes they had (Target was 5 minutes away from closing so I didn't wanna go try them on) and took them home. The top fit PERFECTLY! My boobs looked AMAZING in it! :D The bottoms - not so much luck... saggy bottoms. :( You know what I'm talking about. Lol. It must have been my lucky couple of days because I hit up another Target the following day and found ONE pair of bottoms left in a size smaller! HALLELUJAH!!!

I am one step closer to being completely prepared for my tropical Mexican birthday vacation!!!

I know, I know... I am officially the world's worst blogger... I'm workin' on it, I swear.

Behind the Scenes: Day 3 Photoshoot.

A couple weeks ago was The School of Style Day 3 class with Luke Storey, his assistant and photographer Eric La Cour.

Going Back to School is Finally FUN!

I'm so late on this post... totally un-fashionably late... oh well...

After months of still despising my current job, I decided that I wanted... no, wait... NEEDED to do something that I had a passion for. Something that I could do for hours upon hours and not want to kill myself afterwards. Eventually, I concluded anything in the fashion industry would suffice that need. Specifically, a wardrobe stylist - because who doesn't LOVE shopping as much as I do?!

Initially, I looked into going to FIDM for Visual Communications. As much as I love going to school specifically for something in the fashion industry, I was not ready to commit to being $50,000 ($25,000 a year, with a 2 year program) in debt.

Sure enough, I found myself perusing Craigslist.com for an internship or any kind of job in the styling field which led me to a link that read something like this: Fashion/wardrobe stylists wanted!!! Which turned out to be an ad for The School of Style which is a 3 day boot camp taught by celebrity wardrobe stylist, Luke Storey. After going to The School of Style's website and concluding that it wasn't totally bogus, I finally forked over the cash to take all 3 days - I was intended on doin' this whole hog.

After two long weeks of sheer anxiousness and excitement the day finally arrived - the first day of school! The class was about 8+ hours and it seriously went by with the quickness. Luke divulges all of the insider secrets that would take years of assisting to learn. I've never wanted to learn so much as I did that day!

A couple days later was Day 2 which consisted of a tour of premiere Los Angeles costume houses, PR firms, designer showrooms, stores, studio services departments and "best kept secrets" boutiques (aka shopping/prepping for a shoot). Seriously, Day 2 was even more informative and fun then Day 1!

Most recently was Day 3, which is going on an actual photoshoot with Luke and his assistant to see how it's done! More on Day 3 on the next post... :)

Moral of the story: Best chunk of cash spent and best time of my life... so far ;)

Shopping for a Good Cause.

Not to long ago Anique Michelle contacted me about promoting her website that features affordable clothes and accessories. She hooked it up with a gold and leather (yes, REAL leather!)bangle that is soo cute and is only $12!!! Pretty crazy, right?!

The best part of it all is that a portion of every sale is donated to 4 amazing charities: The American Cancer Society, Dress for Success, The Hunger Project and ASPCA- The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA happens to be my charity of choice).

Don't believe me... check it out for yourself!

Here's a few more of my faves from Anique Michelle...

'Tis The Season for Sample Sales.

Yet again, there tons more of sample sales in Los Angeles this weekend! Here are a few more to help satisfy the shopping addiction...

My all time favorite designer jeans are William Rast and it's not because Justin Timberlake is the creative force behind it. All of their jeans always fit me PERFECTLY! Enough so that I have repeatedly ordered them online without hesitation. That being said, I WILL be at the William Rast warehouse sale this Saturday morning! Also, be sure to RSVP at The Warehouse Sale for FREE admission!

The next is Chic Little Devil Style House's Sample Sale. If someone asked you, 'If you were to raid one closet in the whole, who's would it be?" Well, the answer *should* be Chic Little Devil's closet/style house of course! Everything in this style house WILL MAKE YOU DROOL.

Last, but not least is Showroom Seven's Sample Sale. Commence more drooling.
